Our first meet.

 8th,February 2013

Hi, at last we had our first Sew and Chat. Four of us, Jane, Sue Towse and myself, Eleanor, met at my home in Wendover.
During our two hour (which extended easily to nearly four hours!) get together, there was a lot of chat, quite a lot of sewing and even a little teaching, but what was really lovely was sharing our work with each other and helping each other with little problems..... Jane had to help me perfect a good way of hiding the thread when starting a new length of thread on the top of a quilt.

Towse, a natural teacher, taught us how to make a "secret garden" You can see a few in the foreground.

This is us, Sue, Towse, myself and Jane.

Towse with her beautiful jewel coloured quilt top. I think it's for a very large bed!

I'd like to add a link to Debs McQuire's blog spot. It is:plainstitch.blogspot.com

Here you can find out about more of Deb's wonderful Quilting courses etc.

I hope you have enjoyed this blog, please give me ideas for the future so that we will all be able to add to this site.

See you soon, Eleanor

  1. Thank you, Eleanor, for hosting our first session and for putting this blog together. Now I can show some of my more distant friends the kind of thing I have been up to since I discovered Deb McGuire's courses last September. I think it's a little premature to call me a natural teacher on the patchwork quilting front but I do admit to my new addiction and my growing stash pile. And to think I took the mickey out of my husband's 'lead pile' of miniature wargame figures! All the best, Towse :)

  2. What Fun!
I started a similar group amongst my crafting neighbours just over a year ago. I did laugh when you said 2 hours which ran into 4, we are just the same!
I love your quilt top Towse, very affective. I'm so happy you discovered this wonderful hobby.
I look forward to more virtual "show'n'tells", maybe you can set up the "follow" button.

  4. Hi Eleanor - it was so lovely meeting you on Tuesday at the Wharf Cafe and great re-reading your blog. Do remember to pop over to our blog and enter the competition (closes on Friday) to win some fabric. http://fabrichq.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/fabric-giveaway-yay.html
Hope the pin cushion is getting some use - keep sharing what you're all up to!
